What is Civic Engagement?
Civic Engagement consists of individual and collective actions to address issues of public concern and work to aid in the improvement of a community.
Examples:
Working in a non-profit organization, interning with a service organization, serving in a government office, or leading a food drive. Leadership in civic engagement is the ability to initiate civic engagement opportunities and stimulate civic engagement by others.
What Will This Minor Do for Me?
I will learn skills in:
- Organizing others
- working successfully in a non-profit
- Communicating with elected officials
- Helping shape public policy
- Working effectively in government or other forms of public service
