The Art of the OP-ED with Hal Boyd

Thursday, January 28
5:00 PM

RSVP here

Come learn the fundamentals of how to write and then publish an op-ed (500-800 words of opinion or commentary traditionally placed opposite of the opinion page of a print newspaper). An op-ed is an ideal way to advocate your ideas to a broad audience and is an essential tool of civic engagement. Attendees to this event will also be invited to submit their op-ed in February to our campus-wide op-ed contest.

The five best submissions will be awarded $100 each and an opportunity to meet with an expert and get your article ready for publication!

Hal Boyd is an associate professor of family law and policy in BYU's School of Family Life. He is also a fellow of the Wheatley Institution and the editor-at-large of Deseret Magazine. His essays have been featured by The Atlantic, Religion & Politics, First Things, and Newsweek. He’s been a guest on NPR and CNN, and his commentary has been cited in pages of the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom link for the event. Click on the RSVP link above to register.
